Indonesia's first President, Soekarno, unveiled the mosque to the public on February 22, 1978. In terms of form and capacity, Jakarta's majestic Istiqlal Mosque is the biggest mosque in Southeast Asia. It has the capacity to hold 120,000 people in a single assembly. The Istiqlal Mosque is awe-inspiring in its size and modern style. It's no surprise that most jama'ah who come to pray there would spend some time to photograph the inside and exterior of the mosque in order to enjoy the beauty of the structure itself.

The first red-and-white flag flown at the Proclamation of Independence on August 17, 1945 is housed at the National Monument. The obelisk-shaped National Monument stands 137 meters tall and is crowned by a 14.5 meter bronze flame encrusted with 32 kilos of gold leaf. Visitors may take a lift to the lookout platform at the foot of the flame for a spectacular view over Jakarta. Merdeka Square, where the National Monument is located, is the center of the government's most important buildings.

The history of Jakarta is depicted in this museum, which spans prehistoric times until the creation of Jayakarta. Many cultural factors influenced Batavia, including those from Europe, particularly the Netherlands, China and India, and Indonesia itself are depicted by the exhibits in this museum. Performances include the Zapin dance, a mix of Betawi and Middle Eastern influences, the Barongsai Chinese lion dance, Portuguese-influenced keroncong music, traditional Betawi Tanjidor music, batik fashion exhibits, vintage vehicle parades, food and souvenirs, and firework displays are held on Sundays.

26 unique reconstructions of traditional chieftain's homes from Aceh through Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Java, and Papua are displayed here. Taman Miini offers huge spaces for family leisure, a number of flora and fauna parks, several museums, performance theatres, an Imax theatre, and lodging facilities. It was built for education and family enjoyment. The pavilion showcases at least three exemplary examples of each regional style, allowing visitors to see the outstanding breadth and entire variety of regional architecture throughout the Indonesian archipelago at a glance.

Ancol Dreamland has a gigantic oceanarium Seaworld, a water park with artificial waves, a fishing and boating lagoon, a meeting hall, carnivals, adventure rides, hotels and etc. Among those attractions inside Ancol Dreamland, the 'Pasar Seni' is an art center that sells Indonesian handicrafts, paintings, and souvenirs. Restaurants selling local and foreign cuisine can be found at Pantai Carnaval, with some specializing on seafood. Marina Ancol is a unique harbor that caters to yachts, motorboats, and sailboats.

The temple was originally named Koan Im Teng and was devoted to the goddess Kwan Im. It was established in 1650 by Chinese officer Kwee Hoen. Devotees gather to the temple on the first and 15th days of the new moon to burn incense or light candles in order to seek for the Almighty's protection and prosperity. During Chinese New Year celebrations, when the Vihara becomes the focus of devotion, the temple is very crowded.
