Not too far away, you can visit our award-winning Great Rift Valley of Ethiopia exhibit that features a troop of close to 90 hamadryas baboons and other Ethiopian creatures. You will also experience the native Ethiopian lifestyle with recreations of rustic tribal villages and artifacts. Another must visit, is the fragile forest where this walk-through recreation of a rainforest allows you to come up close with our critters such as the free-ranging mousedeers, lemurs and sloths. Take the tram from Tram Stop 2 and alight at the final point (near the free-ranging orang utan island). Walk 5-8 minutes to the exit (main entrance) and don’t forget to bring back some attractive souvenirs from the zoo shop.

Highlight of River Safari: Congo River, Mekong River, Giant Panda Forest, Amazon River Quest and Amazon Flooded Forest River Safari is the newest addition to Wildlife Reserves Singapore’s portfolio of award-winning parks. Nestled between Singapore’s two award-winning wildlife parks – Singapore Zoo and Night Safari – River Safari offers an unforgettable adventure inspired by the world’s most iconic rivers. This $160-million attraction features state-of-the-art exhibit design, Southeast Asia's largest panda exhibit as well as the world's largest freshwater aquarium. Housing one of the world’s largest collections of freshwater fauna, the park features over 6,000 animals including 40 threatened species. Take a leisurely stroll and meander through the park on an exploratory river adventure of the Mississippi, Congo, Nile, Ganges, Murray, Mekong and Yangtze rivers. With the pristine Upper Seletar Reservoir as a backdrop, River Safari is also home to the Giant Panda Forest, Squirrel Monkey Forest and the enchanting Amazon Flooded Forest.
Congo River Venture through the Mississippi River and get a rare inside-look at the home of the beavers. Go nose-to-snout with the rare Mississippi paddlefish and primitive alligator gar. As you travel down to the Congo River, stop and marvel at the world's largest freshwater puffer fish.
From one African river to another, flow down to the River Nile where the sharp-toothed tigerfish and the many-finned birchir reside. When you find yourself at the temple facade by the Ganges River, watch out for the crocodilian Indian gharial resting by the sandy shore. Here, you’ll also see the peculiar-looking softshell turtle and the goonch catfish. Head south of the Pacific Ocean to Australia’s Murray River to meet the barramundi, the Australian lungfish, the robber crab, and the Murray cod – Australia’s largest freshwater fish – which can reach 1.8 metres in length.
Mekong River The Mekong River beckons with one of the world’s largest freshwater aquariums, which houses the magnificent Mekong catfish and the giant freshwater stingray. The Mekong catfish can grow up to 2 metres long and the giant freshwater stingray, an awe-inspiring 600 kilogrammes in weight!
Giant Panda Forest
Next, make your way down to the Yangtze River, home of the world’s largest amphibian – the giant salamander. Just around the corner, enter the Giant Panda Forest, home of Kai Kai and Jia Jia. Observe these adorable envoys from China as they roam around their naturalistic habitat. Spot the golden pheasants and red pandas that share this remarkable climate-controlled biodome.
Amazon River Quest No riverine expedition is complete without a ride down the Amazon River. At Wild Amazonia, set sail on an exciting adventure known as the Amazon River Quest. This ride takes you down the mysterious South American river where you’ll meet the amazing wildlife that come from the world’s largest tropical rainforest. Peer into the secret worlds of the spider monkey, maned wolf, Brazilian tapir and more. Venture into the deep, dark, jaguar cave, and try spotting the powerful predator before it spots you. From the river to shore, step into the Squirrel Monkey Forest. Short-furred and adorable, these monkeys are known to be highly intelligent primates that live together in social groups.
Amazon Flooded Forest The Amazon Flooded Forest is another must-see ecological showcase. It is an immersive re-creation of the Amazonian rainforest, which gets submerged in up to 15 metres of water every year during the rainy season. Wander into the depths of this multi-level exhibit to witness an amazing underwater habitat for creatures such as the arapaima and the giant river otter.

Waddle down to the Penguin Coast and see our residents of the Antarctica housed in an impressive "explorer ship". Get a panoramic view of the penguins as they drive and torpedo through the waters. Outdoors, meet their tropical cousins, the African penguins and get your chance to feed them at the Penguin Encounter sessions (10.30am). Get set for a stunning visual fiesta that brings together the largest collection of birds on one stage at the High Flyers show (11am). Be prepared for some hands-on action as we'll be calling out for volunteers! Visit the award-winning 9-storey high Lorry Loft, the world's largest free-flgiht aviary. Engage with our chirpy lories while feeding them with a specially concocted nectar mix and watch them eat right out of your hands. Go face-to-face with an Oriental Pied Hornbill in this 15 minute getting to-know-you bird feeding session (11.45am). And because you're so close, you will actually get to see the eyelashes on the Hornbill- the only flying birds to have them! Bring home memories of the Park with some souvenirs from our gifts shops.
