Colombo is the prime city of Sri Lanka. Even though Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte is the capital of Sri Lanka, Colombo is often introduced as the "Commercial Capital" of Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka's main airport is Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB), 22 miles north of Colombo at Katunayake. A taxi will take approximately 30 minutes to reach Colombo from the airport. The city boasts a strong colonial past as well as a plethora of gorgeous and well-known tourist sites.
